My Story: Carpooling and Culture

I'd like to share a short story about my carpooling experience. I carpool with a gentleman from Romania. Since the drive is somewhat lengthy, we have time to discuss our families, our work and our lives. In the last 2 years, I have learned so much about Romanian culture and language, and he has learned about Canada from me. We talk about Europe and the people there, and since I have never been there he brought me a map of the world to put at my desk so I would know more about what he was talking about. Learning about new cultures without the cost of a plane ticket is an unexpected bonus to carpooling besides saving money. I'd reccommend carpooling to anyone who enjoys getting to learn more about people! It certainly makes my commute much more enjoyable.
