 | 2012 Bike to Work Day Event featured in SNAP North Mississauga

On a warm May 28 morning, hundreds of people switched gears and went green to celebrate Smart Commute’s 6th annual Bike to Work Day! There were two group rides that began at 7AM: one from Riverwood Park, and the second organized by City Councillor for Ward 3, Chris Fonseca, which was stationed at Burnhamthorpe and Tomken Road. Both groups came together at Mississauga Celebration Square, where all cyclists enjoyed a free breakfast, bike safety tune-ups, cycling workshops and speeches from various representatives at the event. Once everyone’s bellies were full, the crowd went wild for the Craz-E-Crew Stunt Team, who put on an amazing BMX show. Staff, students, teachers and local residents who registered for the event all received Bike to Work Day t-shirts, provided by Smart Commute Mississauga, and were also entered to win a bicycle, provided by Daymak Inc.
